The word "States" was formerly used in Britain as a nickname for suede, which is why the classic States collection uses suede as its main material. Like the classic collection, States Denim is stylish and sleek, and true to its hip hop roots.
In the 1980s, the PUMA suede shoe became the “it” shoe in NYC's hip hop scene, and as soon as the music reached Britain, so did the fashion. The suede shoe was renamed ‘The States’ after its birthplace.
