The contemporary art movement in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is gaining momentum in more ways than one (Read our coverage here, here and here). With the support of initiatives like Edge of Arabia, contemporary art is having its moment in and around the region – though let's be honest and admit that it's more appreciated internationally than it is locally.
Detour is a feature documentary that aims to explore the emerging contemporary art movement in the KSA, as well as delve into the lives of the artists in the industry. With commentary by emerging and/or prominent Saudi artists like Manal Al Dowayan (who we interviewed for "The Art & Design Issue"), this is surely a film to keep an eye out for.
