The Rug Company, founded in 1997 by Christopher and Suzanne Sharp in London, was born out of passion for quality, design, craftsmanship and service, credentials which have enabled it to transform an industry and establish itself as the leading name for handmade and contemporary rugs. The instant success of the London flagship store quickly led to the brand’s expansion worldwide. The Rug Company opened its Dubai showroom in February 2009. Housed within the exclusive Dubai International Financial Centre, the franchise is a key addition to the existing group of The Rug Company shops located around the world.
In addition to their own in-house designs, which are available in a myriad of colours and textures and are fast becoming design classics, in 2000, The Rug Company established its Designer Collection: a collaboration with 10 leading British interior designers including Nina Campbell, Nicky Haslam and Mary Fox Linton. As its reputation grew, some of the world’s most prolific design talent joined, including fashion designers such as Paul Smith, Marni, Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson, Diane von Furstenburg and lighting and furniture designer Tom Dixon. Harnessing the unique vision of these world class designers, The Rug Company works closely with each one to create timeless, collectible pieces.
