Effa, the popular Abaya brand that we featured on Khaleejesque here launches a new capsule collection inspired by the 40's. Hollywood’s 1940’s coquettish stars Joan Crawford, Ava Gardner and Lauren Bacall with all their glamour and sophistication paraded the design stage and colour palettes of Effa’s recent AW 11/12 collection. Playing on the contrast of using different key jewel colours like Emerald Green, Saphire blue, Ruby red, Garnet, amethyst, and citrine Yellow. Black and white is also a strong feature, as well as a strong influence of Gold in the collection. The material of fabrics used were plain silks and satins, laces, pleated skirts and printed Italian silks, florals and abstract prints with a selection of luxurious velvet pleated details. Some of the pieces were adorned with stone embellishments and handmade intricate details along a mixture of semi precious stones.
