In the heart of Oman's picturesque Al Jabal Al Akhdar, a remarkable agritourism experience has taken root, beckoning travelers to immerse themselves in the charms of nature and culture. Rummana, a pomegranate-themed farm activation, officially opened its doors on Thursday, October 3rd, making history as Oman's first agritourism venture. This unique project blossomed from a dynamic collaboration among three entities: Teepee, ABS, and Janaen, each contributing its own expertise to create an unforgettable journey for visitors.

The founders of Teepee, Al Amjaad Al Maawali and Umayma Al Hinai, set the stage by embracing the theme of the aptly named "Rummana," which translates to pomegranate in Arabic. The goal was to shine a spotlight on the renowned fruit of Al Jabal Al Akhdar during its season. This vibrant theme permeated every facet of the experience, from art installations to culinary delights, crafting a harmonious and captivating environment for all who ventured there.

At Rummana, guests have the opportunity to delve into the secrets of the pomegranate through interactive workshops, art displays, and guided hikes amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Al Jabal Al Akhdar. During the pomegranate picking season, visitors can even pluck the fruits themselves, connecting with the land and the fruit in a meaningful way.

Alaa Al Balushi, the CEO of ABS group, masterminded the food and beverage offerings, ensuring that the menu featured high-quality ingredients infused with local flavors that complemented the beauty of Al Jabal Al Akhdar's pomegranate trees. The result was an exceptional culinary experience that perfectly complemented the natural beauty of the region, attracting and captivating larger crowds.

Rummana's inception was a testament to the power of collaboration and creative vision. In a mere two months, the collective efforts of Teepee, ABS, and Janaen gave rise to this transformative project. Mazin Al Raisi, the portfolio management office director of Janaen, emphasized how Rummana stands out by reconnecting people with their natural surroundings. Teepee's concept of a pomegranate-focused experience aligned perfectly with Janaen's mission to promote agricultural tourism and create a destination that highlights the riches of Al Jabal Al Akhdar.

Visitors to Rummana were greeted by a stunning wall mural designed by Omani artist Shaima Al Alawi and brought to life by Mahmood Al Fahdi, an artist from Al Jabal Al Akhdar. This three-part mural titled "From Seed to Fruit" ingeniously blended the life cycle of humans with that of the pomegranate, showcasing a child holding the seeds, a young man with the flowers, and an elder cradling the fruit.

Additionally, "Lah-mer," a striking installation combining art and stories, awaited visitors. Created by the talented Omani trio of Fatma Al Awadhi, Aisha Al Ghaithi, and Asma Al Saadi, this installation invited guests to explore the symbolism of the pomegranate. Composed of dynamic panels, "Lah-mer" delved into the rich legends surrounding the fruit, from its place in Greek mythology to its enduring significance in Christian tradition, offering a captivating glimpse into the mysteries and wonders of the pomegranate.

The inaugural season of Rummana was extended until October 28, 2023, as the echoes of its success resonated far and wide. The agritourism experience not only celebrated the pomegranate but also exemplified the power of collaboration, creativity, and the natural beauty of Al Jabal Al Akhdar. Looking ahead, plans are in motion to transform the farm into a glamping site, aligning with Teepee's expertise in providing such unique accommodations. Until the next pomegranate season beckons, Rummana will remain a testament to the magic that can be woven when visionaries come together to celebrate the wonders of the land.
