Bubbleology, the popular London-based bubble tea brand, celebrated the launch of its first store in Kuwait and the Middle East at Sanabil Tower. Alongside local partners, Evolution Affiliates,  Bubbleology Founder Assad Khan, and many bubble tea lover guests were taken through a bubble-bursting event that included an open-tasting session of more than 30 flavors of both hot and cold tea-based to milk-based drinks.

Founded in 2011 by London-based Assad Khan, who was originally a banker, Bubbleology's first store was in the heart of trend-setting London and most specifically Rupert Street, Soho. Bubbleology serves authentic bubble tea with original recipes from the master tea makers in Taiwan.

Assad Khan, Bubbleology Founder said: “I used to drink bubble tea all the time during the time I lived in New York, and when I moved back to London, I thought I would be able to easily get my bubble tea fix, but I struggled to find authentic bubble tea anywhere. That was my eureka moment, and knew I spotted a gap in the market, and because New Yorkers loved it, I knew Londoners would too, so I decided to bring it to the city; starting today, even Kuwaitis will be able to enjoy authentic bubble tea and it will be a short car ride away. I know that Kuwait will love Bubbleology just as much as Londoners do.”

But what is Bubble Tea? Bubble tea is a drink prepared with a natural red or green tea base with delicious fruit or milk infusions, and the unique addition of tapioca pearls at the bottom of the cup. The texture of these tapioca pearls (also affectionately called “Boba”) is reminiscent of a chewy gummy bear but with a hint of delicious caramel, and infused with the flavour of the tea itself. Originating from just a single stall at a night market in Taipei in the 1980s, this beverage has now become so popular, now more than 8,000 cafés serving bubble tea in Taiwan alone.

Bubble tea is served warm or cool in transparent cups with the “Boba” clearly visible at the bottom. The trademark cups are sealed with a unique plastic cover – designed because in Taiwan bubble tea is often a take-away drink concept, and so spillage is prevented when being carried on mopeds! The drink is complete with an oversized colourful straw, so that one can easily suck up and taste the tapioca pearls.

Alaa Hassan, Evolution Affiliates Managing Partner said: “Bubbleology has been a go-to place for many Kuwaitis that have spent many summer vacations in London. The launch of Bubbleology in Kuwait brings people closer to this refreshing drink that they’ve been accustomed to and introduces many others to a unique and delicious option to add to their gatherings, outings and even study sessions.”
