FESTIVAL DE CANNES 2008 / DEJEUNER DU FILM FRANCAIS DU 17 MAI'When I Saw You' is an award-winning  independent feature film directed and written by the talented Annemarie Jacir. The film received support from Abu Dhabi Film Festival's SANAD fund for both its development and production. After winning the Best Arab Film Award at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival last year, it's back again in the nation's captial to hopefully add to their success.

The film is set in 1967 revolving around the relationship between a mother and her 11 year old son 'Tarek' played by young and upcoming actor, Mahmoud Asfa. 'Tarek' is perceived as a very powerful character who goes through the struggle and hardships he had  along his tiring journey It follows him and his mother around as they flee across the border from Palestine to Jordan struggling to survive in a refugee camp. Tarek, who is separated from his father, tries to search for his way back home. The journey is "full of adventure, love, humor, and the desire to be free."

Ali Al Jabri, Festival Director said, "we are delighted that Abu Dhabi audiences will have the chance to see this wonderful film on the big screen once again.”

The film was entirely shot in Jordan and was produced by Ossama Bawardi and was Palestine's official entry to the 2013 Academy Awards, it is definitely a must see! The theatrical release of this movie is set to be released at VOX cinemas in Marina Mall Abu Dhabi from July 18th 2013.
