Being an artist in France, Nadia Wicker would probably be following the footsteps of the great artists whom have left their mark in the world of art, but no. Nadia's photography skills have leaded her in being one of the most exciting artists out there. Her skills make her art not only bizarrely admirable but also inspiring to those who dream of one day becoming artists. I had the chance to talk to Nadia about her success, her passions, and inspirations and here's what she had to say.
Tell us about yourself in a sentence or two.
I'm a makeup artist and a photographer for several years now. I mainly dedicate my work to self-portraits.
Living in France, you are bombarded with art everywhere. How does that help you when creating your own?
Living in France or not, if you're connected you're bombarded from art anyway! It simply helps me to surpass myself. It helps me try to create something we cannot see everywhere.
Where do you get the ideas when you take a photograph?
I regularly buy lot of things that are going to serve me for one day: materials, fabrics, makeup, objects etc. I don’t necessarily use what inspires me but it helps me to get ideas but honestly, most of the time, inspiration came without really thinking. Music and a good mood help me a lot.
How important is travelling around the world for photography?
I made my first big travel 2 months ago thanks to my boyfriend. It's a must to discover other people and get acquainted with new cultures.
Where have you had exhibitions of your work?
Paris, Brussels, Milano and soon in Stockholm, London and Amsterdam.
When did you know that art was the direction for you?
After my first solo exhibition, it was obvious to me, photography was THE thing but longer before, I already knew what I need to create in my life.
Any future dreams of yours?
Honestly? Stop being restricted by money!
