Who knew that a little boy from Jersey would grow up to be one of the most idolized artists who had ever lived? Francis Albert Sinatra, better known as Frank Sinatra, started his career in the mid 1930s. Being a solo artist in the Swing era of music, Sinatra was destined for success. During the early 40s, he was crowned as the Top Male Artist of his time by Billboard magazine and with a soulful voice and charming good looks, there was no stopping "The Voice."
Sinatra had the voice, the looks, the screaming fans and the fame. What did he do to add to all of that? He went into acting of course, and boy did he succeed! Best Supporting Actor in 1954, Best Actor in 1955 – both in the Academy Awards – and winning three Golden Globes later on isn't so bad is it?
Sinatra had countless hits like "Strangers in the Night", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "Fly Me To The Moon", "Come Fly With Me", "My Way", "The Way You Look Tonight", "New York, New York", "Summer Wind", "Something Stupid" featuring Nancy Sinatra, and many, many more songs that sooth one's soul. Having sold more than 150 million copies of his records worldwide, Frank Sinatra is one of the most successful artists of all time.
After suffering multiple heart attacks, Sinatra died in February of 1997. His legacy continues on as one of the most beloved artist to have ever lived. Wherever you're from, and however old you are, Sinatra's songs will always be recognizable to you.
"I would like to be remembered as a man who had a wonderful time living life, a man who had good friends, fine family – and I don't think I could ask for anything more than that, actually." – Frank Sinatra
