Carbon 12, the Dubai based gallery, will be hosting the solo exhibition of American multimedia artist James Clar. The exhibition, entitled "Iris was a pupil", will open on November 5th 2012.
Clar's new works are all about the concept of vision, as the gallery puts it "the sensation of visual stimuli, the constant challenge of finding new viewpoints, and the demand to keep seeing things from fresh perspectives." The title of the exhibition is also the title of a song by techno band Autechre.
James Clar lives and works between New York and Dubai, and likes to portray the theme of crossing borders, nationalilism, globalism, technology, pop culture, among other things, in his work. His work can be described as minimalist and conceptualist, yet always exploring the visual arts, by working with – and controling – light.
In "Iris was a pupil," viewers will witness Clar's notable use of light, to create works partly inspired by diagrams, lines, and waves.
"Iris was a pupil," will take place from 5th of November — 15th of December, 2012 at CARBON 12.
CARBON 12 is located in Al Quoz 1, Street 8, Alserkal Avenue, Warehouse 37; Tel: (+971) 4 340 6016
