Nuqat Design Conference 2012, under the theme ‘The Lost City of Arabesque’, announced today that the Dubai 2012 conference, to be held this month, will be in partnership with Dubai Culture.

In recent years, Dubai Culture has dedicated itself to the development of the cultural scene in Dubai, positioning it as one of the most dynamic hubs for culture and the arts in the region. Dubai itself has become a prominent contemporary arts city on an international level, hosting events such as Art Dubai and Design Days Dubai.

Nuqat’s mission is to build a solid network of creatives from around the Middle East to contribute to the development of a strong cultural scene regionally and internationally.

Working towards acheiving the same goal, both Nuqat and Dubai Culture are focused on initiating dialogue and encouraging collaboration both regionally and globally. Thus, this partnership will help foster collaboration, content creation and production, and establish a platform for the participating designers to present their work to a broader audience.

Bushra Badri, Nuqat’s Dubai ambassador said, “The last few years have marked the growth of the contemporary design industry in Dubai. We’ve witnessed an evident development in the cultural sector. As Nuqat’s main objective is to build a solid network of creatives from different disciplines and different cities around the world, it was rather highly important to have a presence in Dubai at some point.”

She added, “We were invited by Design Days Dubai to host our conference in Dubai coinciding with their fair. This provided us with a great opportunity to be in Dubai amidst all the great art fairs and initiatives on the March calendar.’

Hussa Al Humaidhi, one of the founders of Nuqat also added, “Hosting this conference in Dubai feeds into the long term plan we’re working towards. We aim to establish Nuqat institutes in different cities across the Middle East and develop our own educational curriculum in addition to organising annual conferences to tackle different topics in the creative realm.”
