Katara, the Cultural Village, celebrated Qatar’s first National Sports Day on February 15th, 2012. The event included various activities including free bike riding, beach yoga, volleyball, table tennis, film screenings and exhibitions.
The event was open for families and people of all ages. There was a Kidszone area that included entertaining activities for children as well as a designated area for ladies. The weather was perfect for the day's event, especially since literally thousands attended the celebration.
Dr. Emad Sultan, Cultural Affairs Director said, “It was a pleasure to welcome hundreds of families and see people of all ages enjoying the activities. We look forward to next year’s event which will feature even more activities and we hope to see more sports enthusiasts joining us.”
The event, which proved to be a success, will become an annual event in Qatar, where attendees will be encouraged to participate in activities along with their families.
