I used to eat Rice Krispies Treats so much as a kid when my family made them. These chewy bars have the right amount of sweetness, chewiness and crispiness. What's more, they incorporate one of the most popular chocolate bars: Mars. They are extremely simple to make, and they're a delicious treat for children and adults alike!

Ingredients

90g unsalted butter
5 bars of Mars chocolate, coarsely broken apart
1/4 cup of light corn syrup or golden syrup
4 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Directions

Line a 13×9 inch pan with baking paper (parchment paper). Allow the paper to come up slightly above the sides of the pan.

Place a large deep pot on the stove and heat it on high.

Add the butter to the pan and allow it to melt. Add the Mars bars and golden syrup and reduce heat to medium high to avoid the mixture from burning.

Stir until everything is melted then pour in the Rice Krispies.

Remove the pan from the heat and stir everything together until all the Rice Krispies are coated with the mixture.

Spoon the mixture into the pan, cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 30 minutes*.

When the 30 minutes have passed, remove the Rice Krispies mix from the fridge.

Lift the solid mixture up using the edges of the baking paper and place onto a flat work surface.

Cut into even sized squares.

You can store the bars in airtight containers for a few days (if they make it past one day that is)!

*Note: Do not refrigerate the mixture for too long or else they will become extremely hard, making cutting them difficult. If you find that it is still warm after 30 minutes, return to the fridge and let it chill for a little while longer.
