Bloomingdale’s, the famous American department store, first opened its doors to the world in New York in the year of 1872, and now 138 years later it is launched in none other than the blooming city Dubai. On Monday, the 1st of February, 2010, “Bloomingdale’s” opened their first branch ever outside of the U.S.A in Dubai Mall, Dubai, UAE.

This heavenly three-story branch that measures 200,000 square feet in total, offers you luxurious clothing, jewelry, cosmetics, and furniture too. All the upscale brands that come to mind are available in Bloomingdale’s: From Jimmy Choo, Gucci, Tory Burch, Stella McCartney, Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Diane Von Furstenberg, to Yves Saint Lauren, Chanel, Christian Dior, Fendi, and Alexander McQueen… It’s all the fashion candy you can think of.

There are two sections to Dubai’s Bloomingdale’s: The Main store and the Home Store. The Main Store, measuring 146,000 square feet, has three levels that include women, men and children’s clothing, jewelry, perfumes, cosmetics, accessories, as well as a bridal section. There’s also “At Your Service” which is a personal shopping salon, and “Shine” a beauty salon for women and grooming salon for men.

The Home Store, measuring 54,000 square feet, is a whole level that includes furniture, textiles, kitchenware, house ware, and services like the Interior Design Studio, Gift Registry and Gift Wrapping.

I visited Bloomingdale’s the next day after its glorious opening in the Dubai Mall, and I had a fashion heart attack. The blood rush I got from all the beauty and luxury that surrounded me was impeccable. Everything was well organized and the service was wonderful. One of the things I really loved is the big sign on the window saying “Love is Rich”. Yes, Love is indeed rich, rich with beauty and elegance.

Another exciting thing would be for all you cupcake lovers out there; Bloomingdale’s will include a branch of New York’s famous cupcake bakery: “Magnolia Bakery” which is known for its scrumptious baked goods all around the world. There will also be an ice-cream parlor and the famous Forty Carrots restaurant known for its unique frozen yoghurt.

From the Big Apple, Dubai brings you the Big Brown Bag. So don’t postpone your visit to the famous Bloomingdale’s any further, because this wonderful heaven awaits you. Happy Shopping experience!
