We were recently invited to the Anya Hindmarch presentation at Harvey Nichols in Kuwait, and fell in love with their "Pomp & Pleasure" SS13 collection. With an 18th Century influence that consists of refined leathers sitting alongside bright prints of damask, silk moiré, Georgian illustrations and oil paintings, as well as ornate curtain tassels which have been recreated in leather and guilloche boxes, the "Pomp and Pleasure" collection is an intricate yet attractive handbag line.
A sophisticated color palette of cream, grey, tan and chocolate is accentuated by pops of bluebell, emerald, coral, mustard, Celadon green and fuchsia.
Elegant shapes are designed to be worn in a modern way, cross body with striking contrast colour straps. Hard clutches feature faceted sides inlaid with shagreen and huge leather tassels swing from bright pouches.
Here are a few of our favorite bags that caught our eye from the "Pomp & Pleasure" collection:
SOFT EBURY – The Anya Hindmarch classic has been updated in a new softer construction in goat skin. Available in Mustard, Tan, Bluebell and Black; all with contrasting straps. Extremely light & functional, yet modern.
SEYMOUR – A new family of 5 styles made of soft goatskin taking inspiration from antique purse frames featuring a new form of handle with curved frames will be available in solid colours of Black, Mustard and Tan, or a chic Cream/Grey combination. 
THE DUKE TIMEPIECE – The showstopper style for SS13 is The Duke Timepiece, embedded with a working clock and surrounded by guilloche. It was inspired by the keepsake boxes of the era. Craftsmen pour the enamel over etched metal and spread it thinly, repeating the process layer upon layer to create the incredible effect. 
CARKER – First introduced as part of the AW12 collection this family has an assortment of styles from the Tote, to the Cross body, with contrast straps and beautiful colours of Celadon, Coral and Grey Ostrich which have a guilloche lock or in butter calf in classic tan and black. 
BATHURST – First introduced for Cruise 2013 and named after the 1st Baron Bathurst, a renowned 18th century politician, the Bathurst is made in an ‘old school’ way in box calf, alligator and two tone goat skin. Emerald Green and Bluebell crocodile, Grey box calf and Cream/Light Grey capra have been introduced in to the family for SS13. The style lends itself to being the kind that one could have inherited. Enclosed with two shoulder straps; one in a contrast colour instantly giving it a modern touch and a second being tonal for the more demure look. The lock is inlaid with an enamel clover, the Anya Hindmarch hallmark bow or an eye portrait referencing the classic cameo miniatures of the period.
