At Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa, it’s easy to forget you’re still in the Middle East; commonly known for its arid landscape and dry climate.

When we were invited to experience Hareer Spa for a signature treatment of Omani Honey, we hadn’t expected something so refreshing and relaxing at the same time. Welcomed with a chilled lemon-infused drink of water, the attentive staff escorted us through a lush walkway, surrounded by greenery bursting with bunches of bright blooming flowers – an absolute delight.

Hareer Spa is a brand new concept by L'Occitane, designed especially for the guests at Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa, where they not only offer a variety of facials, body massages, and treatments but also serve as an exclusive retail outlet for L'Occitane products in Oman.

Arabic for "silk", Hareer was introduced in Oman by the Chinese merchants who traded it for local Frankincense, many centuries ago. Enriched with natural ingredients from the L'Occitane grand herbarium, the gentle, sensual softness of silk is recreated at Hareer Spa.

The Omani Honey treatment left us in a complete state of bliss. Although it was a 90-minute session, I could have easily spent an entire day enjoying the soothing, aromatic, and relaxing experience that it was. It starts with a skin-softening body scrub using three magical local ingredients – honey, pollen grains, and sea salts. What makes this unique is that the honey is acquired from the remote mountains of Al Hajar in Oman. Its natural healing properties bring about a sense of well being. A quick shower in the open and we're back in for a massage; a combination of Swedish effleurages, Chinese acupressure, and Balinese techniques.

We recommend you try this experience after spending a long day out in the city or exploring the spectacular landscape of Muscat, for it will certainly rejuvenate your senses, allowing you to enjoy a great evening later.
