Khaleejesque has been curating special movie nights for its viewers, with the aim of showcasing the talents of regional filmmakers. It all began with an exclusive screening of the documentary “Between Hope and Pain” by Athlete-Turned-Director Balsam Al-Ayoub and Producer Faisal Al-Duwaisan, on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016.
The movie, screened at Mefazec’s co-working space, highlights the disappointment of Kuwaiti Olympic athletes who were unable to represent their country at this year’s Rio 2016 Olympics. Coffee was served by Jumo Coffee. The film was followed by a Q & A session held by both Balsam and Faisal, where they answered questions regarding the issues with Kuwait not being able to participate in the Olympics, technicalities of how they shot the film, and the government response to the film.
