The 2013 Abu Dhabi Film festival, which is powered by twofour54 is going to take place on October 24 till November 2. The film festival which is presented each year in October helps create a vibrant film culture throughout the region. With a focus on Arab cinema and the wealth of emerging and established film talent from around the world.
This event is one of the most anticipated events in in Abu Dhabi, enhancing it as a hub of creativity.The seventh ADFF will include no less than 94 feature length films and 72 short films from 51 countries, it will open with a Gala screening of 'Life of Crime', directed by Daniel Scheter. The film follows two small-time criminals who meet in prison then join forces for a big plan on the outside.
Director of the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, Ali Al Jabri, returns in his second year directing the festival stating that "We have secured films that are delighting audiences and making waves around the world. It is a heady and stimulating mix of the best of international and Arab cinema, with something for young and old. There’s entertainment for the family, as well as more challenging films for cinema buffs and arm-chair critics."
The renowned Palestinian actress Hiam Abbas will be honoured with a Black Pearl Career Achievement award this year at the festival. The actress, who recently turned her focus to directing, has gained international success as an actor. She appeared in Thomas McCarthy's The Visitor, Steven Spielberg's Munich and has won numerous acting awards.
The Abu Dhabi Film Festival will take place from October 24 till November 2, 2013.
