We attended the exclusive Dubai preview of Chanel's traveling photograph exhibition "The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's Classic Revisited" by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld. Held inside a custom made tent at the foot of Dubai's iconic Burj Khalifa, the exhibition will be open to the public from Saturday 27th April until Saturday 11th May 2013.
Dubai is the latest stopover for this exhibition that has already been displayed in the other fashion capitals of the world including New York, London, Paris, Berlin and Milan. The photo exhibition mirrors that of the coffee table book of the same title; a series of over a hundred photographs taken by Lagerfeld and styled by Roitfeld of celebrities including actors, models, musicians and socialites from all around the world wearing one of the most iconic pieces in fashion, the Chanel "Little Black Jacket."
The photographs are an homage to the timelessness of this single piece of clothing that is unisex with no age boundaries. While each photograph reflects the personal style of the artist, the images reiterate the versatility of it. The subjects of the photos are diverse, such as Tilda Swinton, Lauren Hutton, Kanye West, Yoko Ono, Elle Fanning, Sophia Coppola, Sarah Jessica Parker, yet they all share one thing in common – they're all wearing the exact same black Chanel jacket.
"The Little Black Jacket: Chanel's Classic Revisited" will be open to the public from Saturday 27th April to Saturday 11th May 2013 at The Venue, Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Downtown Dubai.
