After the event (described in more detail here) the divas and I were as exhausted as runners after a marathon. After a night of candle lights, music, and entertaining guests, we came back to laptops, windows and our beloved whiteboard. And some unwelcome guests…
Tiny, almost too small to see, bugs were crawling at almost every corner of our desks. At F2's desk mainly. Luckily, F2 had bug spray (only God knows what else she keeps in her drawers) and sprayed the creatures like a gardener hoses a garden.
On another note, Captain called me 'sunshine' (I was wearing a yellow shirt and not because I am her actual sunshine) which still made my week. As you can probably tell already, this column is all about pure randomness. No theme, no main point, just a tornado of random topics and stories for you, my readers, to enjoy.
So we're working on the new issue. Issue 6. That means writing on the whiteboard, phone calls, conducting interviews, taking appointments, organizing photo shoots, accepting random gifts (people will do anything for publicity), coming up with new topics, erasing ones in which people never get back to us… It can get really hectic at the office. (Also, as I am writing this paragraph, X-Grande Latte sits next to me and I must say she smells as lovely as blueberry muffins straight out of the oven! Perks of working with an all-female staff).
So X-Grande Latte is talking about how Europe has now banned products that are animal tested, like for example, makeup and other beauty products. So I'm thinking about it… How do you test beauty products on animals? Do they put nail polish on birds? Lipstick on a sheep? Or do they put wigs on a monkey? This is definitely something to Google.
Hmmm .. What else is new at the office? Oh yes. Flowers. We all love flowers, even us guys can appreciate a nice looking tulip or daisy. We received a bouquet from one of our peers, the editor-in-chief of Al Watan Daily (fancy shmancy), so on behalf of the divas, I'd like to say thank you!
Thanks for wondering about my dieting, readers, I'm doing great! I lost 6 kilos in a month by having soup and steamed vegetables everyday and F2 directing me towards the right path in nutrition. Blueberries, whole-wheat bread, water, water and more water.
There was, however, a sad point in my week. Remember the model I mentioned a couple of columns ago? Well, Captain and Critic are flying over to Dubai to organize the photo shoot with said model, WITHOUT yours truly. There's one dream shot down. A dream I had ever since I flicked on to "Fashion TV" a while back and Heidi Klum was on. Oh well, I'm sure I'll be standing next to Alessandra Ambrosio in no time.
One last thing, the flu season. Who invented that? I'm stuck in Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf with a cold, working on this column and my cough is like a lion's roar and my sneeze blasts germs stronger than a fire hose.
Well, that's all for this column. A weird way to end it but you have to admit my imagination can sometimes get wilder than a 5-year-old's.
Until then!
