Tell us more about yourself…
I’m a 23 year old fashion designer from Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. I studied fashion design and pattern making at the prestigious French University ESMOD, and launched my line in 2012 after interning at iconic Lebanese fashion house Abed Mahfouz.
What made you enter the fashion world?
Growing up, I was immersed in high fashion, we would have events to go to and would get gowns custom made. I instantly fell in love with the design process. Watching an idea develop into a beautiful result truly is inspirational.
What inspires you?
I’m inspired by many things, my debut AW12 collection was inspired by a modern interpretation of Marie Antoinette, and my SS13 collection was inspired by Air Hostesses in the 1960s. It’s usually different eras in time that catch my attention.
Do you only design eveningwear pieces?
Actually my collections don’t just include evening wear, this was a conscious decision I made when launching. I include day wear such as pants, blouses, and blazers in all my collections. I try to make sure there is something for everyone in the collection.
Any plans to expand in the future?
Right now I’m being stocked throughout the GCC, which I am so proud of, but I’d eventually like to expand my stockists to Europe and Asia.
