If you are looking for a relaxing beach vacation here in the UAE, there is no better place to spend it than The Cove Rotana in Ras al Khaima.
Upon your arrival at the resort, you are greeted by endless blue below you as the resort is situated in the mountains above the Arabian Gulf. Get a little closer and you find the Emirati style chalets and rooms lining the ups and downs of the resort, all very stylish and chic while remaining true to the simplicity of Arab architecture. Once the check-in procedures were done, I was given a short tour of the massive resort and then escorted to my room. Although I was disappointed that it was not a beach front room, the view of the infinity pool was equally breath taking. The room was slightly smaller than most typical double rooms, but the relaxed, mostly blue, decor made up for that.
The ocean looked beautiful, but looks can be deceiving, as the water was too salty and green for someone with a taste for the Mediterranean like me. The pools, though, were divine. Make sure to get there early as the chaises lounges run out fast. Fresh air, beautiful people, calm Buddha Bar music playing in the background. Could it get any better?
After a long day of tanning, I would suggest a little exploration of the city. Driving around gives you a feel of what the uber-modern Emirates, like Abu Dhabi and Dubai, must have felt like years ago. Tens of small bakeries and groceries line the streets, but if you cannot survive without your retail therapy, the Ras al Khaima City Center is within close proximity to the Cove.
Want to stay in? That would be just as good. With a beachside bar and two restaurants, the Cove has plenty to offer for a night in.
A few nights at the Cove will leave you wishing you did not have to get back to real life!
