Following the success of its first store in Kuwait, AlOthman, one of the country's most renowned high-fashion retail destinations, opened the doors of its newest location in Bahrain. Located in Moda Mall, on the ground floor of Bahrain World Trade Center, the store carries fashion heavy-hitters like Giambattista Valli, Oscar de la Renta, Monique Lhuillier, Carolina Herrera, Marchesa and Elie Saab.
A much revered fashion destination in Kuwait, since 1956, the Kuwait store stocks both casual wear and evening gowns. Focusing more on events and evening occasions, the Bahrain venue carries cocktail dresses and evening gowns.
AlOthman Bahrain's interior was the concept of interior designer Ammar Basheir. High ceilings and tall wooden panels create a maze-like effect. The wooden panels are shaped like fans, which Basheir claims were inspired by "a woman holding a Chinese fan on a trip to Shanghai".
There is not much furniture in the store itself; a mirror here, a console there and the clothes cleverly peeking out from between the panels. The effect is very minimalistic, complete with white floors and a white ceiling, keeping in tune with current fashion trends.
White mannequins, almost sprinkled throughout the store, display AlOthman's newest offerings. Skillfully incorporating the Chinese fan effect, Basheir created a "conceal and reveal" interior where not only do the clothes peek out from the panels, but the mannequins also peek at you from different corners of the store. The entire area, although sparse and minimal, is very dramatic.
To round up the whole theme, the designer created an alluring VIP room, calling it the "core of the conceal and reveal concept."
