Thomas Cruise Mapother IV (impressive name right?) is comfortably sitting on his throne as king of Hollywood from all the epic films he's been in, produced and of course, his marriages to Hollywood's most known actresses from Katie Holmes to Nicole Kidman. It's not so surprising that Mr. Cruise is one of Hollywood's most richest actors with a net worth of around $250 million and Maverick doesn't seem like he's slowing down any time soon.
I compiled a list of Tom Cruise's top 10 films and because they're all super-duper amazing and they are in no particular order. Ladies and gentleman, the top 10 Tom Cruise films of all time (so far):
A Few Good Men
A marine, a courtroom and Jack Nicholson. How those three fit so well with Tom Cruise is unsurprising along side the beautiful Demi Moore who surprisingly has never been married to Tom.
Top Gun
Arguably the fan favorite of the list, Top Gun is the perfect film. Action, drama, romance, and a hint of comedy, Top Gun has its own place in action movies forever.
Mission Impossible (The Franchise)
When you think Tom Cruise, you think Ethan Hunt. Gadgets, guns, and gorgeous girls, the Mission Impossible franchise is one of the most successful franchises in Hollywood history.
The Last Samurai
My personal favorite of the list and one of my favorite movies of all time. The Last Samurai (obviously set in Japan) is about an American general (Cruise) who helps and teaches a very weak and undersized Japanese army but soon faces the battle of his life. Epic war scenes make this film very worthy of its 4 Oscar nominations.
Minority Report
Directed by Steven Spielberg and co-starring Colin Farrell, this movie was again Oscar nominated. Set in the future, a police officer tries to prevent criminals by doing their crimes before they happen but the officer faces a twist in this must-see movie.
The Firm
The words "Oscar nominated" are being overused in this article so I'll just say "O'ed". Studying law can be the hardest thing ever but when you enter a firm that isn't quite the firm you thought it would be? That's what Mitch McDeere played by Cruise went through in this O'ed film.
Jerry Maguire
Show me the money! This film was not O'ed but actually won an O! Along side Cuba Gooding Jr. and Renee Zellweger, this movie is about the best sports agent in the country who signs the best American footballer there is but with stress and getting fired, he goes through trouble and his will is tested.
Risky Business
If you've watched this movie, you'd remember the famous scene with Tom Cruise in a pink shirt and long socks dancing to 'Old Time Rock and Roll'. Other than that, this film is funny, quirky, and we get to see a rare comedic side of Tom Cruise.
Collateral
The only film where you'll see Tom Cruise as the bad guy. Starring Jamie Foxx and Jada Pinkett Smith, this film is about a contact killer who takes cab driver hostage who drives him to each of his targets. Very interesting and original, I must say.
Rain Man
Rain Man won an incredible 4 Oscars which isn't surprising when the cast consists of Tom Cruise,Valeria Golino, and Dustin Hoffman. This calm and soft-hearted movie shows a side of Tom Cruise we have never seen (no guns or incredible stunts).
