Contemporary art has been an on-going activity in the region for quite sometime with many art exhibitions sharing work from artists around the world. Iran has always been an art hub in the Middle East with many historical artifacts and art displayed all around the country.
Shaheen Merali has curated an exhibition in Castrum Peregrini in Amsterdam titled Speaking from the Heart – The Polemic Sensibility from Iran, an exhibition featuring work by artists from the Azad Art Gallery. All the work features deep meaningful art about human rights, democracy, freedom of speech, and the freedom of expression.
The participating artists include Mehraneh Atashi, Navid Azimi Sajadi, Mahmood Bakshi, Masoumeh Bakhtiary, Majid Fathizadeh, Parastou Forouhar, Farhad Fozouni, Ghazaleh Hedayat, Taha Heydary, and many more local artists.
The exhibition will be from the 27th of September to the 9th of November at the Castrum Peregrini in Amsterdam.
