They say a picture is worth a thousand words so what better time to prove this quote other than a highly renowned photography competition? If you're into photography, then you might want to consider the Capture the Spirit of Ramadan International Photography Competition (IRPC).

For 30 days, photographers can snap photos from around the world that represent Ramadan and symbolize what Ramadan is all about. This competition is a stage for all photographers to show off their skills and creativity while also helping them gain knowledge and international exposure. Photographers can submit photos based on the following categories: Architecture, Spirituality, and Culture.

There will be three winners in each category. The First Place winner in each category will be awarded USD $1,500. The Second Place winner in each category will be awarded USD $1,000. The Third Place winner in each category will be awarded USD $500.

In addition, there will be three Viewers’ Choice winners and two Honorable Mentions. The Viewer’s Choice winners will be chosen by the competition's fans on the IRPC's official Facebook page. The three photos with the most “Likes” will be awarded USD 200.

Over 25,000 individuals from over 40 countries were present at the first ever competition. Last year's competition recieved more than 1,200 entries from over 50 countries and the winner was Muhammad Hatta from Indonesia. His photograph showed a man reading the world's largest Qur'an in Palembang, Indonesia, taken at such an amazing angle and position.
