For more than half a decade, Marlon Brando has influenced us with his awe-inspiring performances and has even left his Hollywood colleagues even more amazed with his films and almost perfect acting. Considered one of the greatest actors of his time, Marlon Brando's gift of not only owning the silver screen but delivering excellent performances in The Godfather trilogy, The Wild One, A Streetcar Named Desire, Last Tango in Paris, Julius Caesar, Don Juan DeMarco and many other classic films make him a favorite in Hollywood. Who knew a kid from Omaha, Nebraska, who started out as a salesperson would turn out to be Hollywood's 'Mr Mumbles'?

Brando was known for having a 'bad guy' image and was never shy in public – especially to the paparazzi. He even rode his motorcycle in the corridor of his school and got expelled on the same day. That's the Godfather we know.

Nine years ago, after many marriages and multiple awards, it was time to say goodbye to the Godfather. His health suffered physically because of obesity, diabetes, and respiratory failure and he died July 1st, 2004.

Here's what some of his fellow Hollywood actors said about him when he passed:

"When Marlon dies, everybody moves up one." – Jack Nicholson

"With the passing of Marlon Brando, America has lost a great actor of the stage and screen. His award-winning performances in films such as On the Waterfront and The Godfather demonstrated his outstanding talent and entertained millions across the country." – George W Bush

"It was incomprehensible how good Brando was. He was just a phenomenon. I was acting before I ever saw a Brando picture. I'm very proud to be able to say that but I'll be imitating him until the day I die." – Al Pacino

"He was a great actor. We all loved him and I'll really miss him." – Robert De Niro
