Meraas Holding, a Dubai-based real estate company, gained approval from HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to develop a 30 million sq ft entertainment destination in Dubai (see image below).
The project, valued at AED10 billion, will be located at Jebel Ali, and will include five different theme parks, complete with hotels, that intend to appeal to all demographics, providing both locals and tourists an exceptional entertainment experience that's unlike any other in the region.
The first phase of the project is Dubai Adventure Studios, a theme park which will be based on popular Hollywood movies, will include multiple thrilling rides and games that are aimed towards adrenalin seekers, both children and adults.
Also part of the development is Bollywood Parks, an entertainment destination inspired by Indian cinema. Meraas, in association with some of Mumbai's major film studios, will build rides and will also install a large theater where Bollywood-style shows will take place.
A third park is the aquatic park, which, in addition to many rides and attractions, will include experiences with marine life, animals and live shows.
Another theme park is a children’s park aimed towards toddlers, pre-schoolers and primary school children. Among its activities is an interactive wild desert night safari intended specifically for children.
All the theme parks will include exciting shopping and dining districts that will connect each park to the other, in addition to many theme hotels. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by 2014.
A 30 million sq ft entertainment facility? We say, bring on 2014!
