The amazing Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s famous Creative Director has teamed up with Carine Roitfeld, the reigning queen of French style and former Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Paris, to showcase Chanel’s latest project, an exhibition. ‘The Little Black Jacket" exhibition is a display of 113 stunning photographs of different celebrities and known personalities wearing the black iconic Chanel tweed jacket.
The exhibition is actually a preview of Karl and Carine’s book ‘’The Little Black Jacket: Chanel’s classic revisited”, which will come out in the Fall 2012. Just like the exhibition, the book will feature famous faces wearing various interpretations of Chanel’s little black jacket.
The infamous Chanel tweed jacket was designed by Coco Chanel in the 1950’s and since then has been a fundamental piece at the fashion house. A timeless piece that symbolizes style and luxury, the black Chanel jacket retails between $7,000-$24,000.
The photographs in the exhibition were shot in only 6 days by Karl Lagerfeld himself in Paris, with the help of Carine Roitfeld. Some of the faces include Sarah Jessica Parker who wore the Chanel jacket with a gold crown headpiece and a skinny black pencil skirt. Alice Dellal wore it with a fishnet shirt under a biker jacket. While Kanye West wore it with a grey shirt and a bunch of hippy necklaces.
‘The Little Black Jacket’ is taking place in the Japanese capital Tokyo from March 24-April 15, 2012.
For people who don’t have the privilege of attending the exhibition in Tokyo, Chanel has made a virtual exhibition. You can view the portraits of singers, actors, models and other famous faces wearing the Chanel jacket in their own personal style by clicking on the rotating photographs here.
