Lebanese-based brand Bashar Assaf was launched in 2012. Named after the founder himself, this season he presents “Skin Deep.” The collection is stylishly minimalistic with neutral hues for pieces that will sit effortlessly in your wardrobe. I’ve curated my favourite pieces of the season.
Here’s what he had to say about his Autumn/Winter 2016/17 collection:
How would you describe the collection?
“Skin Deep” takes on what makes up the human body's external covering, the skin, and reinterprets its various forms, shapes, and lines into garments. The Fall 2016 collection is an appreciation of the bodily marks that form our individual narratives.
What was the inspiration behind this collection?
The garments trace the increase of body’s marks and wrinkles through subtle prints and materials. The cuts, shapes, stitches and volumes trace the female anatomy in order to highlight the transformation of certain parts with the passage of time.
Which key materials are used in your AW collection?
Cashmere, Merino Wool, Crepe, Neoprene, and Cotton.
