On May 14th, at the iconic Dar Hamad, a community of artists, musicians, and culture shapers came together to celebrate the launch of The Spirit of Kuwait, a powerful new production that honors the country’s artistic roots while reimagining them for a contemporary audience. Presented by AlRai Entertainment and Kaif Productions, the show will run at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre (JACC) from May 28 to 30.

At its core, The Spirit of Kuwait is a musical tribute to the country’s rich cultural legacy. But it’s more than that, it’s a reclamation of sound, story, and identity. The production brings together original compositions, orchestral interpretations of folk music, and authentic Kuwaiti instruments in a show that feels both rooted and forward-thinking.
A variety of creative luminaries make up the soul of the production. Key collaborators include composer and maestro Dr. Ahmad Aloud, and musicians Faisal Shah, Abdullatif Ghazi, and Adel AlMass.
The visual and movement elements are just as thoughtfully considered. Costume designer and founder of Muhra, Farah Albabtain, breathes new life into traditional silhouettes, while Briza Alroumi choreographs expressive Kuwaiti dance sequences that bring history into motion.

What stands out the most is the spirit of collaboration that surrounds the production. Artist Mariam Al Salem’s work, centered on Kuwaiti heritage, lined the walls of Dar Hamad. A custom tote bag, created by designer Fatemah Dashti and produced by Al Saffat, was shared as a gesture of appreciation and memory. These creative touches signal a show that’s deeply integrated with the artistic community it seeks to represent.
With the support of partners such as Dar Hamad, AUM, Al Saffat, and Muhra, The Spirit of Kuwait positions itself as a cultural moment, not just a performance. It's a platform to celebrate collective memory, local talent, and the enduring power of art to connect generations.
