The “El_Masnad Lounge Carpet” created by furniture designer Sana Al-Abdulwahed was awarded the Silver A’ Design Award in the category of Furniture, Decorative Items, and Homeware Design by the grand jury panel of the competition, which consists of internationally influential designers, academics, press members, and entrepreneurs.
The unique design is based on an Arabic furniture concept – hence the name “El_Masnad” meaning armrest in Arabic, – which embraces the Middle Eastern leisure culture of adopting the floor as a living space.
The A’ Design Awards are one of the world’s most influential and prestigious design awards, presented annually in Italy. The “El_Masnad” has been exhibited in the U.S., the Netherlands, and Italy.
