The summer break can be unproductive for some children and teenagers. Thankfully, Tashkeel, a Dubai-based art center, will be launching their Art Summer Camp, in association with resident Tashkeel artists from August 10-21, 2014. Each session is open to children aged 8-16 and the fees are AED 250 per session or AED1200 per week, which includes food and beverage for participants.

This is their schedule, along with the descriptions and timings:

Sunday, August 10
10am-1pm
Jigsaw Radio with Fari Bradley
Make a mini radio package.  Learn the best techniques for recording acoustic sounds digitally.  In the second half of the workshop, students will be editing the audio for broadcast or podcast on audio free software.  Plus everyone gets to take home a CD of their work!

Monday, August 11
10am-1pm
The Ultimate Sketchbook with Ruben Sanchez
Taking aspects from their daily lives and experiences, students will create unique sketchbooks that they can take with them and add to throughout their creative journeys.  Each page will become a personal artwork to the students and they will learn a numbers of ways to record and display their experiences, feelings and thoughts.

Tuesday, August 12
10am-1pm
Clay Modeling with Darwin Guevarra
Clay modeling will teach students the skills and techniques necessary to create their own characters and models.  Students will be able to take home their creations at the end of the day!

Wednesday, August 13
10am-1pm
Photoshop with Jill Smith
Students will get to learn skills of manipulating and creating digital images using a variety of programmes and techniques.  Manipulating images and designs will be the core focus of this fun workshop, open to all experience levels!

Thursday, August 14
10am-1pm
Make Your Own Tee with Khalid Mezaina
Learn how to design and make your very own customized t-shirt using the methods of screen-printing and stencil making.  Students will work within a provided theme and will be given the freedom to create a t-shirt to call their very own.

Sunday, August 17
10am-1pm
Illustrator with Myneandyours
Learn how to create awesome designs from sketch to vector using Adobe Illustrator.  Follow a step-by-step guide, learning new techniques, Illustrator insights, and how to prepare your artwork for print.

Monday, August 18
10am-1pm
Sticker Design with Myneandyours
Bring your designs to life, and learn about the different kinds of sticker options that are available.  Students will need to have basic understanding of how to use Adobe Illustrator and the pen tool.

Tuesday, August 19
10am-1pm

Under the direction of two of our participating street artists, students will have the chance to design their own stencils and then learn how to best use them with acrylic paints and spray cans.  Graffiti skills will be taught and the students will work on a collaborative project with their newly created designs.
