The talented Kuwaiti photographer Ali Al Zaidi wins the first place in the third session of the Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award (HIPA). The competition was launched in 2011 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashed Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, with a mission to promote the art of photography around the world. With a grand prize that reaches up to 120,000 USD, the competition attracts the biggest names in photography from all over the world.

One of the winners is Ali Al Zaidi from Kuwait, whose shot won in the special category “Creating the Future”. With over 26,000 photographers participating in the competition and 38,000 photos contributed, Al Zaidi is the only Arab winner and the youngest of all participants. The stunning winning photo was taken in a classroom in Rajasthan in India, it portrays the poverty and suffering of the people living in that area, but against all odds, they are still inspired to seek their education.
