The Butik is an online retailer that connects customers with both emerging and established designers from all around the world that have not been introduced to this region before. According to Faye Al Ismail and Futtaim Beljaflah, founders of The Butik, their aim is “to uncover hidden talents from all around the world, to bring to our clients stories and experiences, and to connect them to the people behind the sewing machines.” The Butik has partnered with Khaleejesque to promote the designers, which will be uncovered in a series of video interviews and articles. The fourth installment of the “The Butik Interviews” is that of designer Amira Haroon.

“Luxe. Timeless. Feminine. Wearable Art." A few words to describe Amira Haroon’s beautiful collection that was debuted at the inaugural season of Dubai’s first platform for fashion designers, Fashion Forward.

Amira spent years in Paris studying fashion at Parsons ‘The New School for Design,’ learning French at Sorbonne University and visiting art museums and galleries. It was her experience in Paris that contributed to who she is today, as a designer and as a person. “It was beautiful everyday. Creativity flowed, in painting, designing, and eventually draping.”

What makes Amira Haroon unique as a designer is her appreciation for the story that comes with every piece, which is where her love for everything vintage started. Ever since she was a child she rummaged through her grandmothers belongings looking for that unique piece that existed in an age where real artisans created pieces with a lot more love and affection and the slightest lack of symmetry gave it that extra charm.

Amira’s designs are timeless, hence her choice to use the finest lace in every collection she produced. Her muse travels through time and lives through cultures and customs but never distances herself from luxe woven and embroidered fabrics with beautiful and elegant details.

She designs for the woman who is seeped in this region, who has a Middle Eastern soul, but a trans-regional outlook and attitude, a confident, accomplished woman, intellectually nourished and full of energy, globally travelled and soaked in style that has evolved with her age and exposure. She will invest in timeless, classic pieces of a superior quality and craftsmanship, but will always look for that one extra detail or a story behind that piece that makes her cherish it forever and look after it as if it’s a treasured art piece. Something she is sure very few others have

Amira Haroon’s career as a fashion design involved being nominated twice as the Ahlan designer of the year in the UAE, runner up for the Grazia Designer of the year and shortlisted by Harpers Bazaar as one of their 11 designers of the Future in 2011.

Amira’s label is currently available at multiple retail stores regionally and globally, including the infamous Harrods in London. This is only the beginning for Amira’s fashion career and we have no doubt that her label will be a globally recognized brand in the near future.

Amira Haroon designed an exclusive Ramdan/Eid capsule collection for The Butik which consists of the most beautiful lace dresses from her recent collection. Visit the Ramdan | Eid Collection page to view her artistic creations.
