The VW Beetle has been around for 65 years, but since 2003, no one has heard of nor seen a newer 'Bug' and even the ones left were not doing so well in terms of being driven around. So Volkswagen decided to bring back the Beetle with an all new longer, wider, and lower look. Volkswagen have certainly kept the original look of the 1930s with the car's signature headlights but they altered the taillights for a new, modernized look that still shares the same essence as the previous models.
The new Beetle comes in two versions, the Beetle and the Beetle Cabriolet, which is the convertible. You get a 2.5L front-wheel drive engine that goes from 0-100 kmh in 7.5 seconds which isn't so bad for a bug. It also comes in three very unique versions, a 170-hp 5 cylinder engine, a 200-hp turbo-charged 4-cylinder engine and a 140-hp turbo-diesel 4-cylinder engine.
With a 10 year absence from the market and our streets, we're really pleased the Beetle is back. Unfortunately it won't be hitting the Middle East market yet so stay tuned for any news. In the mean time, check out the photos below to know what you'll be expecting!
