Launched in 2011 in Egypt, B51 Pop-Up Store is a platform for upcoming and established designers from around the world including India, Denmark and Italy to showcase their collections. Followed by their success last year, the store returned to Dubai for the second time. Housed for 10 days at Al Serkal, the industrial district now famous for its art scene, the 30 designers presented pieces that were original, trendy and affordable.
Amongst these underground but highly talented designers is Lamberto Petri known for his clean Japanese-inspired aesthetic and Italian romanticism. 11.11 by Shani Himanshu and Smita Singh are known to create contemporary and modern outfits using traditional Indian craft of weaving.
From the UAE, the brand OTT is famous for its bright, flashy colors and eccentric prints. Others included the socially conscious label designing t-shirts, Des Artistes. Everything they make is eco-friendly and all profits donated to various charities.
B51 is a unique concept very unlike the mainstream shopping experience Dubai residents are used to. Each of the designers and design houses participating are creative and pushing the design boundaries while delivering pieces that are carefully crafted and immaculately tailored.
