Situated at the prestigious 5-star hotel, Jumeirah at Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi, is Tori No Su, the latest Japanese gourmet restaurant to open in Abu Dhabi. The sleek and elegantly designed venue, located on Podium Level 3 opposite the hotel’s main lobby, was officially opened on Thursday, August 30, 2012.
The restaurant, headed by Japanese native Chef Ando, a kaiseki-trained chef, offers traditional and authentic Japanese cuisine alongside other native dishes that are served with a contemporary twist. The menu includes bite-sized delicacies, made fresh at the restaurant's sushi bar, tantalizing savory skewers from the Robatayaki counter, and various vegetable and meat Teppanyakis. Of course, all that is in addition to classic intricately made Japanese dishes..
If you're a culinary enthusiast, you can opt to forgo the menu and choose an "omakase" course. The Omakase Course is a line of 'off the menu' or momentary creations dishes, created by Chef Ando and his team, that are inspired by seasonal items or sudden new ideas.
The local catch of the day, as well as regular menu mainstays like salmon and tuna, can be served either as sashimi or sushi depending on the diners' preferences.
The shades of amber in the restaurant give off a warm ambience, a nice way to soften modern, contemporary 'of the moment' dining interiors. Marble counters, dining area separators are abundant in the interior. Modern lighting and concrete walls are juxtaposed in this beautiful venue.
In order to reinforce the theme of freshness, some of the walls of the restaurant are decked in living grass. In addition to the group and general seating areas are different dining areas including live Teppanyaki and Robatayaki counters, a Sushi bar and a beverage bar.
For those looking for a place to socialize and indulge their taste buds, the beverage bar is the perfect place. Tori No Su's perfect blends of traditional Japanese beverages with modern flavors are to be missed. Their signature drink is a mocktail known as ‘Tei-en’ (Japanese Garden in English), a healthy and fruity blend of fresh kiwi, cucumber and apple juice garnished with a traditional Shisō leaf.
