It was standing room only when Dubai Ladies Club, a member of Dubai Women Establishment, proudly hosted the elegant and exclusive Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show in Al Mahara Ballroom, The Art Centre. The fashion show marked the spectacular climax to the Oriental Red Carpet Emerging Designer Contest 2010 when the four Emirati winners – Hessa Al Falasi (winner of Jalabiyas category), Hanadi Badu (winner of Abayas category), Moza Al Mazrou (winner of Ready-to-wear category) and Halima Al Sayegh (winner of Jewellery category) – debuted their collections to the media and a key local niche clientele for the first time.

The Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show is an annual fashion design contest for emerging Emirati designers; organised by Dubai Ladies Club, a subsidiary of Dubai Women Establishment. Following the success of the inaugural launch of Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show in 2008, the competition returns once again – for its third edition – as a pioneering campaign aimed at promoting young emerging designers and advancing their careers through extensive media exposure and introductions to key local & international clientele.

This year, aspiring designers were invited to rise to the challenge of conceiving „The Next Big Trend‟ in Khaleeji fashion. The competition was divided into four categories – Abayas, Jalabiyas, Ready-to-Wear & Jewelry.

The Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show has been a launch pad for a number of distinguished local fashion designers such as Mariam Al Mazrou, Fatima Al Hashimi, Athija Al Mazroui, Reem Beljafla, Fatima Al Qassimi and Fatima Al Tunaiji, who have gone on to accomplish even greater things.
Muna Bin Kalli, Executive Director of Dubai Ladies Club commented: “We are pleased to host the Oriental Red Carpet Fashion Show for a third consecutive year. Our core objective in hosting and organizing such a major event is to encourage young Emirati female entrepreneurs and designers and help them achieve their career objectives. Moreover, I am proud to announce that the four Emirati designers will have the unique opportunity to travel London for a fashion extravaganza trip which will include tickets to London Fashion Week in February, 2011. Through this initiative we aim to give the young Emirati designers valuable exposure to learn about the international fashion scene and use that new found knowledge to expand their businesses in the UAE, which is a promise we take on our shoulders as a support to the young and dynamic local entrepreneurs.”

The fashion show was aesthetic eye-candy. First up was Moza Al Mazrou‟s Ready-To-Wear collection that beautifully combined the charm of the East with the West. Next to present was Hessa Al Falasi with a stunning collection of Jalabiyas inspired by the charm of the old world elegance and sophistication mixed with the contemporary. The third and final collection was Hanadi Badou with her collection of Abayas with intricate detailing and feminine cuts. Viewers were blown away by such creative local talent, proving yet another successful event by the Dubai Ladies Club.
