MANZAR: A Window into Pakistan's Artistic Soul

The National Museum of Qatar hosts "MANZAR: Art and Architecture from Pakistan 1940s to Today," a groundbreaking exhibition showcasing the rich diversity of Pakistani creativity. Featuring over 200 works by painters, photographers, and architects, MANZAR offers a comprehensive look at the evolution of artistic expression in Pakistan since its independence. From the evocative paintings of Abdur Rahman Chughtai to the contemporary installations of Rashid Rana, the exhibition highlights the diverse range of styles and perspectives that have shaped Pakistan's artistic landscape. Seeing Is Believing: Rediscovering Jean-Léon Gérôme

At Mathaf, you can delve into the captivating world of Jean-Léon Gérôme, a prominent figure in 19th-century French painting. "Seeing Is Believing: The Art and Influence of Gérôme" examines the artist's fascination with the Orient and his meticulous attention to detail. The exhibition features a selection of Gérôme's most iconic works, including his Orientalist paintings and sculptures, providing a glimpse into his artistic genius and the cultural context that shaped his vision.

The Race Is On: Celebrating Qatar's Motorsport Heritage

The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum shifts gears with "The Race Is On," an exhibition dedicated to Qatar's rich motorsport history. From the inaugural Qatar Motor Rally in 1975 to the recent Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix, the exhibition traces the country's journey as a leading competitor and host of international motorsports events. Featuring iconic vehicles, memorabilia, and interactive displays, "The Race Is On" is a thrilling experience for motorsports enthusiasts and a testament to Qatar's passion for speed and competition. The exhibition is open from November 6th, 2024 to April 1st, 2025.

Village of the Sun: A Monumental Welcome

Beyond the confines of museums, Qatar Creates extends its artistic reach into the public realm with Rashid Johnson's "Village of the Sun." This monumental installation at Doha International Airport Park greets visitors with four mosaic-clad walls adorned with abstract figures. Inspired by Johnson's "Broken Men" series, the artwork reflects on personal identity and collective consciousness. The use of mosaics pays homage to the region's artistic heritage while seamlessly integrating contemporary artistic discourse.

Splendors of the Atlas: A Moroccan Journey

The Museum of Islamic Art also presents "Splendors of the Atlas: A Voyage Through Morocco’s Heritage," a landmark exhibition celebrating the artistic and cultural traditions of Morocco. This exhibition, part of the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture, features over 200 artifacts, including manuscripts, jewelry, photographs, and musical instruments, many on display for the first time. Key loans from prominent Moroccan institutions, such as the National Foundation of Museums and the National Library of Rabat, are complemented by pieces from Qatar Museums' collections. "Splendors of the Atlas" is a testament to the enduring cultural legacy of Morocco and its vibrant history. The exhibition is open from November 2nd, 2024 to March 8th, 2025.

Ellsworth Kelly at 100: A Retrospective

M7, Qatar’s hub for design and innovation, hosts "Ellsworth Kelly at 100," a retrospective celebrating the centenary of the influential American artist. Organized by Glenstone Museum, this exhibition marks the first major survey of Kelly's work in the MENASA region. Spanning seven decades of his career, the exhibition showcases Kelly's innovative approach to form, color, and abstraction. "Ellsworth Kelly at 100" is a must-see for art enthusiasts and offers a unique opportunity to experience the work of a modern master. The exhibition is open until February 25th, 2025.

Chaumet & Nature: A Sparkling Dialogue

M7 also presents "Chaumet & Nature: Nature-Inspired Jewellery Since 1780," an exhibition exploring the Maison Chaumet's longstanding fascination with the natural world. Featuring over 100 jewelry pieces and 110 visual artworks, the exhibition traces Chaumet's botanical inspirations from its founding in 1780 to the present day. From delicate floral motifs to intricate animal forms, Chaumet's creations capture the beauty and vitality of nature in exquisite detail.

Benchellal: Monumental “sculpting past tomorrow”

The National Museum of Qatar hosts "Benchellal: Monumental “sculpting past tomorrow,”" the first solo museum exhibition dedicated to the work of Moroccan-Dutch designer Mohamed Benchellal. This exhibition showcases a new collection of couture dresses inspired by the Qatari landscape and created during Benchellal's residency at Liwan Design Studios and Labs. Known for his exceptional draping and sustainable practices, Benchellal's designs are presented as monumental works of art, reflecting the harmony between craftsmanship and environmental responsibility. The exhibition is open from November 1st, 2024 to January 18th, 2025.
