In the movie, “A Clockwork Orange,” Anthony Burgess says, “It’s funny how the colors of the real world only seem really real only when you watch them on the screen.”

Curated by the mastermind of Rabih El Khoury, “On Arab Geographies” is a weekend long program dedicated to showcasing a selection of films from across the Arab world that have yet to reach the hearts of all the movie buffs in the United Arab Emirates.

Image Nation Abu Dhabi, one of the region’s leading media and entertainment companies, in collaboration with the Cinema Akil, present a film festival called “On Arab Geographies” for the very first time in Abu Dhabi. This film festival’s main aim is to enlighten us with a selection of films that capture contemporary narratives and stories in the region, showcasing a powerful and broad spectrum of critically acclaimed Arab films surrounding the notion of geography.

They have made it their duty to present you with a spectacular lineup that include the Tunisian director, Kaother Ben Hania’s documentary feature, ‘Zainab Hates the Snow’ and Amna Al- Nowais’ short film, ‘Omaina’.

Adding to the program, are the pan discussions and Q&A sessions with the filmmakers and film experts, which will shed light on the different geographies of the Arab world along with the opportunities and challenges in the region, of the one of the most beautiful forms of expression, filmmaking.

It’s not just the love for cinema and filmmaking in the Arab Region that makes them unique and special, it is what they do for it. “On Arab Geographies” is aligned with the #SupportArabCinema campaign by Image Nation, which encourages the support of the local audience that will inevitably help the future of Arab films and their makers.

The wonderfully curated program will be held in Manarat Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi from the May 4 – May 6, 2017, and is open to the public for free.
