Tide – Issue 34

Published July/August 2018

A note from our Managing Editor, Reham Alawadhi:

We dove into the year and found ourselves submerged among a plethora of interesting people to feature in this issue. Gracing our cover, we have French-Kuwaiti Djinane Al-Suwayeh, the art director and photographer who actually shot the very first Khaleejesque magazine cover.

In Kuwait and UAE, we have Nada Faris and Sofiane Si Merabet, two creative individuals who are exploring their identities in two completely different ways.

We also encountered Basil Al-Hadi, also known as Karrouhat, who is a DJ, creative director, and musician based in UAE.

In the UAE and Kuwait, we discovered two spaces that try to do a little more than just sell food and drinks. Hapi, located in Alserkal Avenue, is a restaurant focused on offering simple food, whilst promoting sustainability and healthy living. Wild Coffee Bar in Kuwait sells good coffee while promoting kindness and equality, as well as supporting the community.
