The first library in Kuwait was established in 1923 under the patronage of the late Sheikh Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. After that, the Public Information Library was created in 1936 and during the early 50s, many public libraries were opened in Kuwait followed by The Central Library in 1979, but it was The National Library of Kuwait that took center stage in Kuwait's literature and heritage.
The National Library of Kuwait has always been a source of education, cultural, and traditional learning. It contains documents, manuscripts, books and government publications as well as many division such as one for Exchange and Dedication, Arabic Books, Arabic Cataloging and Classifications, Government Publications, Audio Visual Aids, Auto Mechanicals, Online Books and many more.
There's also a 275-seater auditorium hall, microfilms hall, a special materials room, and other departments where people can search and research about Kuwait-related information as well as getting a dose of Kuwait's culture and heritage.
The National Library of Kuwait is the place to visit to learn more about the State of Kuwait and to get a historical overview of the country's history, the events and occurrences in the earlier years.
